If there were ever a time to return to my stomping grounds, it would be the summer of 2009. The ballplayer I idolized all growing up, Griffey Junior, is back in blue, and the city of Seattle is extatic! He will be reporting to Seattle Mariners Spring Training in Peoria, Arizona next Wednesday. This will be a monumental shift in morale for Seattle Mariner fans. Ticket sales will go through the roof, and the MLB spotlight will be on the city of Seattle for sometime. Griffey has been a class act throughout his 18 season career. No steroids, no run ins with the law, infidelity or spousal abuse. If Griffey is to blame for anything in his extraordinary career, it would be his inability to pull off his superhuman powers and fight his injury prone seven years with the Reds. Griffey was on track to obliterate Hank Aaron's 755 all time home run record. Forget about Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, A-Rod, and the rest of today's "steriod stars." There is NO asterisk next to any of Griffey's numbers. Welcome home Jr. Click here for an article about his return.
